Whiterose are a multi-instrumental , vocal harmonic Scottish/Irish Folk Duo. Kev Wilson and Dougie Smith formed the duo in 2008 after playing a few charity gigs together. Finding every thing just clicked musically and with the same passions nationally and historically they decided to ready an entertainment set to take on the road. Instruments played by the duo consist of [Guild Electro-Acoustic Guitar],[Freshman Electric Acoutic Guitar] ,[Mandolin],[Bouzouki],[Bodhran],[Harmonica],[Banjolin]&[Whistles]. Kev and Dougie each have around 30 years experience in the music buisness , Whiterose have entertained audiences all over Scotland from the Outer Hebrides to the Border and into Northern England [Berwick Upon Tweed]. Whiterose have also played in USA , in early 2011 they played eight gigs over sixteen days in Florida. This was a great experience for Whiterose who were very well received and with a return in 2012 on the cards it looks to be a great year ahead. The lads love to keep thier link to CHAS charity strong to which they give thier services to Fundraising Gigs.Scottish Historical Commemorations are another great love of Whiterose who play regularly at events from all historical era's. From the strongest patriotic song to the softest ballad , old favourites to a wee bit of comedy , Whiterose deliver the true meaning of Scotland and her music. Whiterose are available for [Burns Nights], [St. Andrews Nights],[Scottish / Irish theme Nights],[Historical Commemorations]and with a selection of Country and Alternative music thrown in Whiterose offer an excellent evening's entertainment for everyone. Fiona's Song
Hi there , There are some people in this world that when you meet them whether by chance or by introduction , change your way of thinking. One such person was Fiona Stewart a woman of great courage and the sister of a very dear friend of Whiterose. Fiona suffered from Cancer and though through all the harrowing and painstaking treatments for this terrible Illness she showed tremendous courage and fight.Fiona attended a few of Whiterose's Gigs and became a fan of our music of which to say we were extremely proud.Sadly towards the end of 2010 Fiona lost her fight to Cancer. Having the privelige of knowing her was an honour so much so that Whiterose have written a song in her memory entitled [Fiona's Song]. This song will be recorded towards the end of May 2011 in the form of a CD single from which the proceeds from the CD will all be donated to Cancer Research. To the memory of Fiona Stewart , the bravest woman Whiterose has ever met.
